Electromagnetic Metal Detector Surveys

Aqua Survey utilizes electromagnetic detectors to detect and map metal targets that may or may not be ferrous-based (e.g., steel pipeline vs. a copper utility line). Electromagnetic detectors are well known for their use to detect UXO (unexploded ordinance) on land and for beachcombing for lost change. These detectors produce a magnetic field and then detect disturbance within this field caused by metallic targets. Electromagnetic detectors are towed on sleds behind survey vessels at a couple of knots and can be used to survey a site prior to penetrating the bottom with coring or probing equipment.
